In water treatment and many other chemical and technical processes chlorine gas is frequently used. This gas is poisonous and chemically aggressive. There fore special precautions have to be taken in areas where chlorine gas is produced, stored or metered. The health of the operating personnel and the safety of technical equipment are endangered if chlorine gas is present in the ambient atmosphere. Even low concentrations of this gas may exceed the permissible levels for operating personnel staying in this area for extended periods of time.
